Last week, we asked local food beacons for their May bank holiday hours and this is what we learned. Some serve lunch, not brunch, but I've listed them as well because options are good when dining out on a holiday weekend. UPDATE: I've created a Google Doc list of all Cork City restaurants which offer brunch (or brunchy... Continue Reading →
We love experiencing live music in a nice intimidate venue. Nothing like feeling the rhythm of the drums in the building and the energy of the crowd. Last night, we were thrilled to see FRED at Cork Opera House. I was thoroughly impressed with the lighting and sound there, but the nice treat was that there were TWO supporting bands performing before FRED took the stage. First to entertain us was Halifax Nova Scotia’s Joel Plaskett then Ireland’s own Delorentos. I was secretly happy that the entire night was over before midnight so I could save my energy for The Wailer’s gig tonight. Yes, a busy weekend! So, the tough choice for Leesiders tonight is The Wailers or Joel Plaskett. Neither show is sold out. Here’s the scoop: The Cork Opera House hosts The Wailers for their 30th anniversary tour, starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are still available. Here’s the event’s Facebook page. The Roundy (Paul Street between Grand Parade and Corn Market) hosts Joel Plaskett for a three-hour gig, starting at 8:40 p.m. Here’s the event’s Facebook page.
Cork City is home to many lovely cosmopolitan attractions, but if you’re not into that sort of thing it may not be your cup of tea. Well, this weekend there are two cups of tea that I can’t imagine not being thrilled about! Tonight, FRED (local band made good) performs at the Cork Opera House. Tomorrow, The Wailers (yes, as in Bob Marley and…) are on stage there. I am tickled to be able to be able to see these bands perform live, but am downright shocked that tickets are still available!
