  5. Visiting Washington, DC

I’m in Washington, DC for a visit and thought it might be helpful post to share links to old DC-related posts and suggest a few fun things and useful links for your own adventures in America’s capital city.

  6. Visiting Seattle

    January 28, 2010 by Evin

Seattle, Washington, is perched on the western coast of the United States and enjoys its Pacific Northwest weather to the fullest. Nine months of the year, it enjoys lush rain and in the summer months the sun is out most days. In the winter, the temperatures can drop below freezing, but snow accumulation is rare. June, July, and August are paradise with long hours of sunlight, moderate temperatures, and the occasional bout of rain.

If I only am in Seattle for a long weekend, my priorities are seeing my friends and family, visiting Rachel at Pike Place Market, and eating at:
    • Piroshky Piroshky
    • HoneyHole Sandwiches
    • Kingfish Cafe
    • Monsoon
    • Galerias Restaurant
However, if you want to do more than just eat while you are in Seattle, here is a six-day itinerary I cooked up that lets you see the city.

  7. Star of the Sea, a Good Read for Irish-Americans

    January 1, 2010 by Evin

This Christmas, I gave my Irish-American husband Star of the Sea by Joseph O’Connor. Like most people, his leisure reading time is limited, but when a book captures his interest it pulls him back at every spare moment to read. Star of the Sea did just that! Though it can by no means be considered a light read, he enjoyed it and the detail-rich experience that Irish would have had as famine era immigrants heading to America.

  8. The Nation’s Capital – Washington, D.C.

    October 1, 2009 by Evin

As a D.C. native, I grew up playing on the National Mall and visiting the Smithsonian museums regularly. It was a gift to have that upbringing and gave me a glimpse into the real city of Washington – not just its political personality. Here is a six-day itinerary I created for friends and family visiting the Nation’s Capital. Hope you enjoy it too and if you have some suggestions of your own, please feel free to share them in the comments section.

It doesn’t have to be all gambling, liquor, and shows in Sin City. Some of the simpler (and quieter) pleasures of Las Vegas are there, you just have to know where to look. Whether you are interested in a peaceful visit or just need a day of restful activities after a crazy night out, these are things we enjoyed while there.
