As an American abroad, Thanksgiving is very important to me. It is a tradition (which sometimes can be seen as a routine), but also something close to my heart. It is when we sit together, from different backgrounds and different families to break bread and share what we have. It started with the Pilgrims and Native Americans, but carries on today all around the world with anyone who embodies the spirit of giving thanks and sharing a meal.
Which is why I’m particularly delighted to hear that the Cork Airport Hotel has organized a Day of Thanks for Thanksgiving on 24th November, 2016. The fundraising evening is on from 6:30–8:30pm in the New York Suite of the hotel. It will be a lovely way to spend Thanksgiving evening in Cork. There will be a drinks reception, all-American canapes (mini burgers “sliders”, wings, and ribs), plenty of games (ping-pong, pool, foozball, etc), and a DJ.
Best of all, the event will raise some funds for Down Syndrome Cork. Each year, the Cork Airport Hotel selects a designated charity for which to raise funds and it fully commit to that charity for the year. Tickets are just €15 for the event. If you would like to attend the event, tickets are available at the Cork Airport Hotel: 021 4947500
