One of my favorite things about when I lived in Washington, D.C. was happy hour. Once a week, my colleagues and I would meet at a chosen watering hole for an early dinner and drink to enjoy each other’s company outside of work. There was a balance to it and we all looked forward to those times. Sometimes, we’d expand our social horizon and mingle with other happy hour groups, which was always interesting. I’ve found in Ireland happy hour doesn’t really exist. There are no drink specials for a certain hour or two each evening or week and people certainly do not meet up to chat, drink, and eat for exactly 90-120 minutes then go home. I’ve witnessed that the Irish don’t do things halfway and happy hour is no exception. What might seem like a reasonable after work meetup to an American seems like a session cut short in other cultures. Which is why I was delighted when I saw that Electric is creating a Mall Mixer!
Mall Mixer is a new event in Electric Bar to gather professional people together in an informal, after work setting for drinks & finger food. What better way to start the weekend! A great chance for businesses on the South Mall and Cork’s city centre to Meet, Mix & Network. The weekly event is hosted by Electric and Open to All!
To kick it off in style and celebrate the Jazz Festival this weekend, October 23rd’s Mall Mixer will have the soundtrack of live music from B Major at 6:30pm. Of course, there will be other Jazz Festival events hosted by Electric this weekend and here is the schedule and their special menu for the festival.
