DC Vacation: Day 22, More American Food

Before jumping into Day 22, there is a bit that was left out of Day 21 so the post could be all about the wedding. Shock of all shocks, I left out a meal! We had brunch with close family friends in DC and celebrated the news of the expected arrival of their third son. The timing worked for us to leave from there straight to the wedding, but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the spread of bagels, cream cheese, lox, fresh fruit, and mimosas (I wasn’t driving!).

Bounty of Fruit & Berries

On our final full day in the States, we sought out some good old American food. Originally, I was supposed to join Jeni and some friends for the Maryland Wool & Sheep Festival, BUT plans change. As is the way with too short visits home, some days I am sitting around looking for entertainment on my parents’ TiVo and other days I have back-to-back plans – while wishing they had evened out with the quiet days.

For brunch, we went to Parkway Deli in Silver Spring. I had creamed chip beef on toast with hash browns and enjoyed one of my mom’s strawberry crepes too.

Without the yarn festival to go to, I took to the garden and tamed the berry brambles and rose vines. We discovered the shrub nest now has three little eggs in it with a suspicious and nervous mother Cardinal nesting.

Later in the afternoon, I joined my husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and nephew for dinner and fun at their house. We ordered AMAZING pizza and sat around with Yuengling in the warm evening air on their deck. then played with Quinn until he had to go to bed.
