Cork City St. Patrick’s Festival – My Photos

March 19, 2010 by Evin

This is a quick post to share a couple photos from the Cork City St. Patrick’s Festival. In this post, you can peek at one pic of the parade, which I didn’t really see given the crowds since I was with my mother (who cannot stand or walk for very long). There is also a photo from the food fair along Grand Parade and the South Mall Boardwalk (not to be confused with the Lapps Quay Boardwalk). If you want to see more photos from St. Patrick’s Day in Cork, this set has photos from my first (and so far only) two March 17th’s living in Ireland. Hope you had a lovely holiday!

Hey Evin, I just found your blog via a google search for a button shop here in Cork a friend had mentioned. And was excited to read that you are an expat and a Californian to boot. I’m from San Diego originally and have been living in Cork since Nov. I’m trying to figure out some things for my mom and I to do while she visits(later this month), any ideas ?

If she is up for walking around, going on the self-guided Cork Walk might be a nice way to show her a bit of the city. On a clear day, visit St. Anne of Shandon (church with the bell tower just north of the north fork of River Lee) and ring the bells then climb to the top to view the city from the bell tower. Lunch at Farmgate then picking up ingredients at English Market. For more dining options, check out the Food page of this blog. Day trip to Cobh, Fota, Midleton, or Kinsale. Buses or trains available for all of those. Hmm, what else? I put some of my favorite Cork activities and events in the Cork City Survival Kit category so check that out for more ideas. Hope you enjoy your mom’s visit!
