This afternoon, I enjoyed the sunshine and a friend’s company by walking around City Centre taking care of messages. First stop was Chambers where I found a darling dress and going out top. Then off to Fellini’s on Carey’s Lane where they were sadly without queen cakes, but I found a mother-of-pearl buckle that is just what I need for a raincoat belt. To comfort ourselves after finding the shop cupcake-less, we went to Long Valley for lunch. Since it was after 13:00 by then they were out of corned beef, but the chicken was good. The corned beef is best though. Then off to Hallmark for wrapping supplies before going to Easons to get mailing supplies for the completed and beautiful baby blankets I knitted as gifts for my mom-to-be and new mom friends back in the States. After that, a brief visit to a-wear with much discussion over the revival of 80’s fashion. Of course, lots of peeking in other shops and little messages (ie. errands) along the route.
While walking around Cork City today, I saw the new H&M store. Shelves are being installed and stocked! It’s official, the Cork City H&M store will open on Thursday, 1 October, 2009.
We finished with a leisurely browsing in the English Market. I got lettuce (from the produce place by the Grand Parade entrance near the olive stall), Caesar salad dressing (from the place across from Bell’s), and parmesan (from On The Pig’s Back). Getting the ingredients there was a lot more pleasant than wading through the usual crowds at Tesco and trying to find where they’ve moved my favorite ingredients. If anyone sees Lustre boxed tomato with garlic and olive oil, please comment with its location in the City Centre store so I can find it.
