Charles Fort

November 25, 2008 by Evin

Charles Fort is start-shaped and dating from the late 17th century. For detailed history, definitely read the Charles Fort (Ireland) Wikipedia page because if I tell you it may come across like a history lesson. It is nestled by Summer Cove near Kinsale and offers a beautiful harbour view. Admission requires a small fee per person (no pets allowed), but you can view from the outside for free (plenty of grassy spots for picnics too). A short walk down the road is Bulman’s Pub. Delicious pints and food too. We went in the summer and took the Scilly Walk up from downtown Kinsale. Yes, so many Monty Python moments come to mind. It is quite a trek, so if you want the view without the workout, visit
