Sometimes, I get annoyed with close-minded people who think their country is having the worst time in this recession or the cost of filling up their car is the fault of one political entity. It isn’t my usual cheery outlook but an honest rant. Yes, I am about to rant. The first ever rant on this blog (in four years!).
I live in Ireland. Petrol (as gas is known as here) costs about $8.00 per gallon. Almost $9 per gallon if you’re out on an outlying island or remote area.
And it can take months to see a specialist doctor here and that’s even if you are paying in cash (even longer if on the public ‘socialized medicine’ wait list).
No country is perfect but realize that there are countries who muddle through with far less so instead of throwing blame around and being political, get out there and make the world a better place.
Well written. Why not ask why a litre of bottle Water can cost more than a litre of Fuel! Always wondered about that
No kidding! Yesterday, in town I bought a bottle of Nestea and it cost €3 ($4). For about eight ounces of iced tea – and it wasn’t even chilled. Then I went to a shop in West Cork and bought an Irish hand-crafted dark chocolate and orange chocolate bar for €2.50. And we both know the ingredients for the chocolate bar were higher quality. Just goes to show locavores are onto something.
Thank you. Sometimes it’s so embarrassing to represent the loudest country on the planet. =/
