Eating at the Shopping Mall

Growing up, I thought shopping malls only offered eatery and cafeteria food options. Though Georgetown and Dupont Circle offer a wide range of shopping and dining options, the two typical shopping malls I frequented were Montgomery Mall and White Flint. Both can be accessed by public transportation.

It was the 1990’s when the first sit-down spot opened at Montgomery Mall. Slade’s American Grill was in the eatery section, but had a menu that was not backed by lights and actual wait staff. The food was decent, but most people still were not ready for a real lunch at the mall so it didn’t last. Now, Montgomery Mall boasts three sit-down restaurants including Legal Seafoods, California Pizza Kitchen, and Nordstrom Cafe. They also have many “fast food” places that will have you carrying a tray.

Nearby White Flint has more sit-down dining options with Bertucci’s, Cheesecake Factory, Dave & Buster’s, and P.F. Chang’s. But they also have 11 “fast food” options strewn throughout the mall (five in the designated section, The Eatery).
